St. Thomas

The balcony view from my bedroom in our villa.

The balcony view from my bedroom in our villa.

I let the sea sink in (literally).
With rosy cheeks and newfound freckles, I had to look at how far I’d come.
Nothing in the air but the brushes of wind and a hummingbird’s song.
My heritage is travel. It is to wander. It is to let go of what was and
let in what now and ever shall be.

I felt my eyes close – let the humidity soak into my pores.
I could live like this. In the sweat and solstice sun over the Atlantic.
I could stay like this. Chasing rising moons and the heat of the night.
Listening to the beat of the wind and that hummingbird’s song.
